Snowmageddon
Well, most of you have probably heard a little about the epic snows that have hit us in the DC/MD/VA area…
40+ inches….
To some, this may be a common occurrence, but we haven’t had a snow of this size in more than 10 years. And we’re due for 5-10 more inches tomorrow afternoon. Considering how most of the roads are still a complete mess and there are about 40k people still without power, I have no idea how they plan on cleaning everything up in a timely manner.
This is my car, Sparky, buried under snow. Mind you, I had already cleared off the snow twice the night before on my car and my driveway…
Sake’s climbing the damn mountains that flank my driveway… No joke, it took us all day to shovel down to the street. And, surprise surprise, they have yet to plow our cul de sac. I guess I’m not going into work tomorrow either….
Okay, hopefully I’ll have better updates soon!

Macaron… Part I
C’s friend is hosting a Superbowl party this Sunday and, Lord willing, if they clear the streets by then (yes, the 18-24+ inches that they’re predicting from today till Saturday), I decided to make football themed macarons!
Coffee with chocolate ganache for the Saints, and Blueberry with white chocolate ganache for the Colts =) It’s my first time making these tiny treats, so I decided to do a test run to avoid any headaches on gameday. You’re technically supposed to let them sit for 24-36 hours before you consume them, and you’re supposed to let the egg whites sit for a few days before you use them, but I think they turned out pretty well! Anyway, I made the Chocolate Coffee Macarons last night… (Sorry for the crappy quality… they’re from my BB!)
Yums!!!

Archaeology
So, all kidding aside, I spent 40 minutes this morning looking for my keys. It went a little something like this:
I was clearing off my car (keys in pocket) and shoveling the driveway, when I suddenly realized I had no keys! So I’m frantically looking around and all I see is a vast blanket of white.
I end up shoveling the greater upper half of my yard, and 40 minutes later, I unearth my keys in a shovel full of snow. Happiest moment of my life.
An intersection that leads out of my neighborhood…
See how well they salted/plowed our streets? I’m so glad our tax dollars are going to useful things. I think that’s the one plus of my area. They’re very proactive when it comes to inclement weather =)

Snow… AGAIN?!
Okay, I’ve been complaining for the past few years because there’s been a strange absence of snow in the DC/MD/VA area, but now it’s getting out of hand. This is definitely more snow than we’ve gotten in a really really long time! It’s snowing buckets here, and it’s not supposed to stop till the morning… So since it’s going to anyway and I’m going to end up shoveling the driveway, I think we should have another federal government employees’ snow day!
Sore muscles have finally started to become normal again… but I kind of want to go back and board some more! I’m a sucker for punishment I guess…
Random Sake picture of the day! How ruuuuude, sticking out her tongue at you! =)
Sleep tight!

Snowy Weekend…
Aren’t these mountain homes so pretty? It snowed the day we went boarding, and it was sooooo gorgeous! This is the view from our front porch.
This is the view from the balcony, you can see a few of the slopes!
Our hallway… I love how it was hardwood alllll around. Walls, ceiling, floor… and it had huge lofty ceilings and big fireplaces =)
The girls and I went up and down the Belly Flop Slope! It’s basically the easiest one they have. The only annoying thing is that there are soooo many little kids you have to maneuver around.
C and I at the bar inside the resort. By the way, I only look like I can board well… I love to look the part! Too bad I am HORRIBLE at it… I very much dislike the cold, wet snow. Especially when the fabric freezes and presses against your bare skin and makes you all itchy!
I’m SO super sore but it was worth the pain =) Although I was incredibly happy to be tucked into my own bed last night! There’s no place like home…

WEEKEND!
Do you see those scratch marks on the wall behind me? Ummmm yeah, that’s from my old chair… I kept scraping it and making marks =( And not only that, there’s this ridiculously ugly acrylic painting by my desk. I did not put that up there!
Sake sleeping in my bed.
I’m SO excited that it’s FINALLY Friday, and that I’m going to be vacationing with my friends in the mountains, bruising my bum snowboarding all weekend! Don’t worry, I’ll take a million pictures and put them up when I get back! =D
I hope everyone has a nice, safe weekend!

Still hungry
Yes. The breakfast of champions! The crackers and such were supposed to last me throughout the day, but I was SO HUNGRY this morning, I stuffed my face within an hour of getting to work…

Only Wednesday?!
I was bored at home yesterday, but I didn’t feel like going out anywhere, so I stayed at home and drew/painted. It’s been sooooo long since I’ve picked up a brush and pencil, I’d almost forgotten what to do!
Okay, I have nothing else, really. This is quite possibly the longest week ever though, and I’m just waiting for this darn week to be over so I can go frolic in the snow!

Another New Week!
I’ve a lot of reason to be excited this week, because on Friday, C and I along with a bunch of our friends, are taking a weekend snowboarding trip!
And now, in true random fashion, are a few random pictures =)
Sake got her lady parts removed earlier last month, and she had to wear her cone until her stitches healed up. Unfortunately, I’m a complete pushover and I took it off every so often, resulting in a minor infection which meant she had to keep the cone on for longer until the infection went away… Poor pup!
I stopped by SuperFresh with my friend, and while wandering the Cereal aisle, we stumbled upon a very small section of board games and such, and this little treasure! Cootie games?!
C loooooooooooves black olives. As you can see, the ratio of pasta: salad: olives is perfectly even.
Waiting for my Mr. Pink pictures to get developed! Will scan and update soon!

YAY!
I finally got my Mr. Pink! Well, I got the camera a long time ago but since it only takes 120film, I had to wait for my 35mm adapter to come in the mail, and it finally came yesterday. I’ll scan some pictures after I get them developed =)
So, whilst at work, I turn on some tv shows on my computer, and listen to the dialogue while I edit images on Photoshop (the latter is actually my work… but believe me, it’s nowhere near fun.) so I don’t fall asleep from the monotony of doing it for 8 hours a day. After a while, you start to run out of shows to watch, and since the show playing now only air once a week, you eventually have to start either watching shows that you don’t normally watch, or watch old old shows again. Anyway, I started up on The Bachelor yesterday (the current season), and it’s amazing how loony some of these women are! I’d like to think some of their craziness is scripted, but I’m sure there must be some truth to them.
Random photo of the day:
Sugar, my roommate’s dog. She’s half Jindo, half Dachshund. Funniest mix of breeds ever, but she’s the cutest dog in the world.
We all left the apartment last September and moved back home (worst part about graduating college), and so I never see Sugar anymore, but I miss that dog. She shed like crazy and was the biggest attention whore, but she always matched my sheets and made was a great watchdog. She had these HUGE spooky eyes that could both be scary and really cute at the same time… basically she was a huge contradiction. Loved it.
Hope everyone has an awesome day!
